Two different mistakes can stop progress here: treating a moved door as if it must be opened in its original position, and copying an eye statue without checking its facing direction. Identify which situation matches your room before changing the layout again.
The 2F lever and moving door
For the second-floor lever room described in the Steam discussion, the developer gives this order:
- Find the closed door to the left of the lever.
- Pull the lever so the floor shifts and carries the door to a new position.
- Open the door while it is in that new position.
- Restore the moving floor to its original position, then check the changed route.
The important distinction is between moving the room and opening the door. Merely toggling the lever back and forth omits the door interaction between those two changes. Developer room hint
This instruction applies to the room in that discussion. It does not prescribe a universal lever order for the whole dungeon.
The eye statue copy
Check which direction the eye faces at the moment you copy it. The developer explicitly identifies this as relevant. The player subsequently reports solving the puzzle and explains that an unreachable second statue had been a distraction. Recheck the available source before assuming that distant statue is required. Developer answer and follow-up
The discussion does not establish one direction or placement that works for every eye-statue room. Use the facing direction at the source as the thing to change when retrying this specific puzzle.
When these hints do not match your screen
Use the developer’s Overgrown Shrine recording to identify the room by its floor layout and landmarks. This written page covers the two sticking points above, not every chest, key or floor transition.
If you have reached the knight, use the separate Strix fight notes. For general source orientation checks, see copy and spawn.
These are developer hints for two reported obstacles, not a complete Overgrown Shrine walkthrough.
